Sew What: Vintage Sheet = Circle skirt

I started sewing again! I made this skirt for Hannah from a vintage sheet using this pattern. Hannah is 7 and very tall. I think we have finally exhausted all the clothing options for her size. It seems all that is available or affordable in our area over size 5 is dripping with glitter, sheer or too mature for a 7 year old. Her school has a very strict dress code that doesn't even allow sleeveless shirts -this pretty much limits summer shirt options to graphic tee shirts. Time to get creative!

This thrifted sash was the perfect shade of red and matched the ric rac perfectly.

Pretty Target notebooks for sketching more clothing designs.

 A work in progress...Hannah can't wait!
I got 11 patterns this week for a quarter each! Oh the possibilities!

Wearing: Candy Stripes

I wore this vintage pink and white candy striped dress to a wedding yesterday. I got it at the thrift store 2-3 years ago but never it never felt quite right and debated selling it in my Etsy Shop several times but I could never do it. I love the combination of red and pink. I was inspired by the fun photobooth from the wedding so I created my own at home!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Best: Striped Vest & Skirt

Today I wanted to try something different. I tied a striped vest at the high waist of my pencil skirt and added my wardrobe staple: the trusty red belt. And what's great is that (with the exception of my heels) this whole outfit is vintage and was thrifted and cost under $5! I can't wait to wear this again but next time maybe with a vibrant kelly green skirt instead. I'm going to a wedding this weekend and my mind is reeling about what to wear. I love getting DRESSED up! And I have too many good options (which is a delightful dilemma to have.)

Happy Sunday friends!

The 2 Year Old Sophie

Yesterday I was browsing through some old pictures on my mom's computer that I had taken while we were at Disney world in 2010. I remember Jonathan and Hannah were waiting in line for a ride so Sophie and I went took a break. There was a great tinted window that filtered the light perfectly and I remember snapping these sweet pictures of her. I love her gapped baby teeth and messy hair. She was only 2 years old! I can hardly believe this baby will soon be 5 and start kindergarten!!! *sniffles* And to all my friends out there who don't have children yet: it goes by so fast...faster than you would ever dream.

Navy & Red Midi Skirt

I've had this vintage skirt for about a year but I just got around to altering it. I was a maxi skirt and was actually perfect just like it was. I've put off shortening it for so long thinking I might try wearing it as a maxi or put it in my Etsy shop...but I never did. I'm 5-6" but I thought it was just too much print. I'm happy with the result and for me personally mid-knee is the perfect length. I love all the little circle skirts and "skater skirts" that I've been seeing in the shops but they are always ridiculously short. When you have a couple of kids and bend over a lot a really short dress or skirt doesn't work for me... and this color combination is kind of my favorite ever ever.
